While LEAP and QuickBooks or Xero are two separate systems, it is very important that you regularly check that the two systems balance as QuickBooks and Xero hold ‘Control Accounts’ for accounts receivable, disbursements and other important nominal ledgers.

We recommend that you regularly, particularly at a month end, compare your Matter Balances with the QuickBooks Trial Balance or Xero Trial Balance as follows:

Debtors - Retainers. This should equal the balance held in the LEAP Debtors figure in QuickBooks or Xero.
Disbursements (Outlays). This is the difference between the LEAP Operating Account Expenses and LEAP Payments Received ledgers in QuickBooks or Xero.

If you find any imbalances, please run through the following checks before contacting the HelpDesk:

Ensure all journals have been exported to QuickBooks or Xero from LEAP.
Check for any manual postings into the nominal ledger in QuickBooks or Xero.

Once you have checked that all journals have been exported, and there has been no manual posting into the nominal ledger, then contact the HelpDesk who will investigate the issue further.

If your journals do not export and you cannot resolve this then please contact the LEAP Support.

Missing Journals in QuickBooks / Xero

If you notice that journals are missing in Quickbooks or Xero, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Confirm that the journal entry has an "Upload" status on LEAP's General Ledger Link page in your default browser.
If the journals have been exported from LEAP but are not appearing in QuickBooks / Xero,ensure you're connected to the correct QuickBooks or Xero account.
Confirm the account codes in LEAP match those in Xero. Go to LEAP Menu > Settings > Application Settings > General Ledger > General Ledger (Xero), and verify that the codes are correct.

If the issue persists, please contact QuickBooks or Xero support for further assistance.

Only Operating Account transactions are synced to QuickBooks. Trust account transactions and journals are not synced or exported to QuickBooks through the LEAP integration.
