  • Hi @Wendy Scheller (Customer)

Thank you for posting on LEAP Community Discussions.

We suggest going to the Archive Management which will tell you exactly which type of balance is still present. You can get to Archive Management by opening the archived matter and clicking the three ellipsis  on the top-right corner and select Archive Management. If the balances on the Operating and Trust are both zero then there are 2 likely scenarios:

    • The Retainer is not applied to invoice, this will show as receivable balance on the Archive screen. You can check to see if the case has an invoice and a retainer that has not been applied to said invoice. You can do this by following the steps here.
    • Unreconciled trust entries, this will show as Trust payments unreconciled on the Archive screen. If you haven't reconciled all trust entries on the trust reconciliation then you haven't confirmed to LEAP that all transactions have passed through the bank (so in theory there could still be an outstanding balance held at the bank for this matter). If you are certain that all entries are reconciled you can archive disregarding the warning.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach the Helpdesk by clicking the orange Support button in the lower right-hand corner of any window in the LEAP Community.

We hope you find this helpful!

    Kind regards,

    Shaiefa

Was there a resolution to this? THe balance shows zero everywhere including Archive Management. Why can I not delete a matter? I mistakenly created the matter twice and need to delete one of them.

  • Helene Koch (Customer)

Still not seeing an answer for this. Archive just spins and never produces any result. Only have 5 clients in it so no reason for that. What is the fix???

    UPDATE:

I got help from LEAP Support. All of my stuff was showing zero, BUT it turns out that if you used to have any entries and then you deleted them, the balances will show zero but the entries (now marked deleted) are still part of the accounting record for that matter.

In other words, once something is in there, deleting the entry will not resolve the accounting warning that precludes you from deleting that client / matter. Best option is to Archive it if you no longer need it.

    :-(
