how to edit type of matter

Thank you for posting on LEAP Community Discussions.
To edit the matter type follow the steps below,
- Open the desired matter to edit.
- Within Details & Correspondence on the left side of the window in Details look for an item named Matter type and double click on this.
- In the new window select a new matter type.

Yes but that only allows me to change the matter types listed in the database, how do you rename the matter type?

Same issue 3 years later. I'm a new user and we can not seem to edit the matter type or jurisdiction. Where is this located?
Why is this edit not on the Matter Edit Dialog when you double click the matter on the left?
Why did you spend an enormous amount of time on implementing new features and ignoring usability issues? Can't you do both?

I found the answer in another post.
Editing a Matter after it Has Been Opened
The answer is: Look for the "Matter Type" Table on the left. There you swap the side of your client, change the jurisdiction, and the Matter Type.
The usability of dialog is not intuitive. To change the matter type you locate the matter type on the left and double click the new matter type. In the desktop version the dialog will close and reopen to the new matter type.
