New York Estate Planning Matter Type Update

The LEAP Design and Automation team consists of attorneys and legal industry experts fully committed to providing legal content that helps simplify the complexities of running your legal practice and improves productivity and efficiency.
In keeping with this commitment, LEAP will enhance the New York Estate Planning matter type to help you better manage your Estate Planning matters. These changes will help you to stay organized by providing:
- Intuitively organized table relationships, visually grouping tables together to establish their connected relationship.
- Pre-populating layout fields to minimize duplicative data entry.
- Revised Estate Planning documents with modern LEAP technology.
Effective date of change
The changes will be effective on or before December 16, 2022.
LEAP Tips & Tools for a Seamless Transition
It is important to note that the changes will not affect your existing matters created in LEAP. While you adjust to the changes, you can use the following existing LEAP tools to aid in the transition:
Assign Favorite Matter Types
Favorite Matter Types will always appear at the top of the Matter Type navigation pane, ensuring easy access to Matter Types you most commonly use. For instructions, visit our Help center Assign a Favorite Matter Type article.
Complete Parent Tables
If the parent table has not been completed, the linked tables will not show even if they have been set as default tables for the matter type. Please ensure to complete the parent table to access the linked tables.
Edit Table Types
Tables can be added or removed as required by navigating to Edit Table Types, ensuring easy access to the tables you need for your matter. You can also update existing matters to utilize linkage by selecting the Reset Tables button, located on the bottom left of the Edit Table Types window.
