Estates, Estate Planning and Elder Law Changes Now Live

The changes listed below have been made to improve ease of navigation, and to set the stage for further improvements to come in the future. These will be live on September 27, 2022.
Changes include:
Area of Law Changes
- Estate Planning and Elder Law will be renamed to Estate Planning
- Estates will be renamed to Estate Administration & Probate
- A new Elder Law area will be created
Matter Type Renaming
- Estate Planning will be renamed to General Estate Planning
- In Florida, Guardianship and Conservatorship of Adults will be renamed to Guardianship of Adults
Matter Type Moves
- Disability Law will be available in Elder Law, as well Estate Planning
- Guardianship/Conservatorship of Adults will will be available in Elder Law, as well in Estate Administration & Probate
- Guardianship/Conservatorship of Adults will will be available in Family Law, as well in Estate Administration & Probate
- Medicaid & Veterans Planning will be available in Elder Law, as well Estate Planning
- Special Education will be available in Elder Law, as well Estate Planning
- Special Needs Benefits will be available in Elder Law, as well Estate Planning
- General Elder Law will be available in Elder Law
Matter Type Removal
- Legal Counsel in Delaware and Virginia will no longer be available. Please use your Practice Management/Miscellaneous matter type in lieu.
- Taxation in Massachusetts and Virginia will no longer be available. Please use your Practice Management/Miscellaneous matter type in lieu.
LEAP Tips & Tricks for a seamless transition
While you adjust to the changes, you can use the following existing LEAP tools to aid in the transition:
Assign Favorite Matter Types
Assigning Favorite Matter Types will ensure all your commonly used Matter Types will always appear at the top of the Matter Type navigation pane. This will provide easy access to the Matter Types you most commonly use. Visit our Help Center for instructions: Assign a Favorite Matter Type.
Matter Type Search
You can utilize the Search feature at the top of the Matter Type navigation pane to search any existing matter type available in LEAP. Searching for a key word will produce the results of all matter types containing that key word and does not limit the search. From the search results, you can navigate directly to the Matter Type of your choice.
