Purpose: This report provides a detailed analysis of billing realization/collection performance for a specified period, showcasing percentile comparisons between professional fees recorded, invoiced, and ultimately collected. Professional fees includes Time, Fee, and Activity entries.
It highlights the billing realization ratio ('% Invoice Realized') and collection realization ratio ('% Collection Realized') for the selected staff member(s), reflecting their roles as fee earner (Staff), Staff Responsible, Staff Acting, or Originating Attorney.
By monitoring these rates, the report helps law firms to assess staff billing/collection efficiency, and pinpoint opportunities to improve billing/collection processes and strategies.

Key Indicators:
% Invoice Realized: A high rate signifies the firm’s proficiency in converting the work performed by staff into billable amounts.
% Collection Realized: A high rate demonstrates the firm’s success in securing payments for services invoiced.
This date range filter Instructs the report to focus solely on relevant activities within the specified date range.
NOTE: The date range filter is dynamic, adjusting according to the type of transaction being analysed (including professional fees, invoices, adjustments, and receipts).
Billing Category
The option allows users to filter results based on Billing Categories.
NOTE:
Results will be limited to matters assigned to any of the selected Billing Categories. Refer to this article on how to create and assign a Billing Category.
Attribute Work To
Consists of three filters:
Include Inactive Staff: Yes: Include inactive Staff members in the 'Staff' list for selection. No: Exclude inactive Staff members in the 'Staff' list for selection.
Attribute Work To: Staff: Refers to the staff member who performs the actual work as a fee earner. This applies when the staff member’s name is assigned to the entry within the professional fee window. Staff Responsible: Refers to the 'Person Responsible' for the matter Staff Acting: Refers to the 'Person Acting' on the matter. Originating Attorney: Refers to the Person 'Originating Attorney' on the matter.
Staff list for selection
NOTE: When you change the selection for Include Inactive Staff (from Yes to No or vice versa), the Staff drop-down list will be updated accordingly.
NOTE:
The Attribute Work To and Staff filters collaborate to narrow down results associated with the selected staff member(s). The interaction between the two filters is as follows:
If you attribute work to 'Staff Responsible', 'Staff Acting', or 'Originating Attorney' and select Staff A from the 'Staff' drop-down list, the report will consider transactions created only on matters where Staff A assumes the selected role.
If you attribute work to 'Staff' and select Staff A from the 'Staff' drop-down list, the report will consider only transactions attributed to Staff A in Staff A's capacity as a fee earner (Staff).
Include Tax
Display figures inclusive or exclusive of tax.
Report Fields:
Staff
The staff member to whom work is attributed, in their role matching the 'Attribute Work to' selection.
Total Hours
The total number of Hours attributed to the staff member.
Based on Time/Activity entries dated within the specified period that are attributed to the staff member.
Total Amount
The total amount of billable professional fees attributed to the staff member for the specified period.
NOTE:
This field includes all billable/billed professional fees dated within the specified period and excludes any entry that has been set to 'Not-Billable' as of today.
The amount is based on the original entry amount and may differ from the subsequently billed amount.
Final Billed
Displays the total amount of professional fees on Final invoices attributed to the staff member, prior to any adjustments.
Draft Billed
Displays the total amount of professional fees on Draft invoices attributed to the staff member, prior to any adjustments.
Total Billed
Displays the aggregate amount of of ‘Final Billed’ and ‘Draft Billed’ for the staff member.
NOTE:
'Final Billed', 'Draft Billed', and 'Total Billed':
The three fields only consider professional fees billed on invoices (Final or Draft) that are dated within the specified period.
Based on the transaction date of the relevant invoice.
Their amounts are based on the the relevant entry's billed amount, not the original amount.
Adjustments
Adjustments made within the specified period to to professional fees billed. This typically results from invoice adjustments but can occur due to fee reallocations.
NOTE:
Only adjustments within the specified period will be captured by the report, based on the transaction date of an adjustment.
This field is only relevant to Final invoices.
Fee reallocations will only impact this field when the ‘Attribute Work to’ option is set to ‘Staff’ (fee earner). Otherwise, the report adopts a matter-oriented approach, where reallocating fees from one staff member to another results in no net change.
% Invoice Realized
This indicator helps to assess the staff member's performance in converting work performed into billable amounts. It is calculated using the following formula:
Percentage Invoice Realized=(Total Billed+Adjustments) / Total Amount ×100
Total Received
Reflects the total amount of payments received allocated to the professional fees that are attributed to the staff member for the specified period.
NOTE: The report only includes payments received dated within the specified period.
% Collection Realized
This indicator helps to assess the staff member's performance in securing payments for services invoiced. It is calculated using the following formula:
Percentage Collection Realized=Total Received / Total Amount ×100
This date range filter Instructs the report to focus solely on relevant activities within the specified period, from the ‘Matters Active From’ date to the ‘Matters Active To’ date.
NOTE: The date range filter is dynamic, adjusting according to the type of transaction being analyzed (including professional fees, invoices, adjustments, and payment received).
Attribute Work to
Allows users to attribute work to:
Staff - Refers to the staff member who performs the actual work as a fee earner. This applies when the staff member’s name is assigned to the entry within the professional fee window.
Staff Responsible - Refers to the 'Person Responsible' for the matter
Staff Acting - Refers to the 'Person Acting' on the matter.
Originating Attorney - Refers to the Person 'Originating Attorney' on the matter.
Staff
Provides a Staff drop-down list to choose from. The results will be limited to those relevant to the selected staff member(s), matching the 'Attribute Work to' selection.
NOTE:

When unchecked, the list is filtered to show only those staff members who are currently active.
NOTE:
A staff member is a current staff member when their 'Current Staff Member' status is enabled under LEAP > Menu > Settings > Application Settings > Firm > Staff > Members > Staff Details > Access and Permissions.

Billing Category
