Learn how to create Custom Fields and add them to your Matters and Documents.
Desktop
Create a New Custom Field
From the LEAP Matter List, click the LEAP Menu > Settings > Custom Fields.
The Custom Field List will open in a new window.
Click New.
The New Field will open in a new window.
Enter the Name.
Select the Type from the drop-down list.
Click OK.
The new Custom Field you have created will be added and displayed in the Custom Field List.
Click Save.
Add a Custom Field to a Matter
Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click Matter Details.
The Matter Details window will open.
Click the Custom Fields tab.
Click Add.
The Custom Field List will open in a new window.
Select or tick the checkbox next to the custom field(s).
Click to edit heading
Click New if you wish to create a new custom field from here.
Click OK.
Enter a Value for each custom field(s).
Click OK.
Click to edit heading
If the same custom field is added more than once to a matter, each instance will be labelled with an incremental number, e.g., Interest Rate 1, Interest Rate 2.
Remove a Custom Field from a Matter
Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click Matter Details.
The Matter Details window will open.
Click the Custom Fields tab.
Select the custom field.
Click Remove.
Click Yes.
Delete a Custom Field
From the LEAP Matter List, click the LEAP Menu > Settings > Custom Fields.
The Custom Field List will open in a new window.
Click the Custom Field.
Click the icon.
Confirm deletion by clicking OK.
Click to edit heading
To restore a deleted field, click the icon and select Show Deleted Fields.
Right-click the deleted field and select Undelete from the drop-down list.
Insert Custom Fields into a Document

Custom fields can be used the same way you normally would with inserting fields in documents.
Open the matter with added Custom Fields.
Open or create a new Word document from the matter.
Place your cursor where you wish to insert the custom field.
On the LEAP ribbon, click Editing > Insert Fields.
A list of Content Control fields will display on the right-hand side of the document.
From the list of fields, click the drop-down list and select Custom Fields.
